The Grass to the Glass – SpringHouse Milk
Over 100 acres of field corn, along with one hundred acres of hay, are chopped finely to make great homegrown feed for The SpringHouse Cows. Those 100 cows head into the milking parlor twice a day to have their teats cleaned and sanitized, and each cow produces anywhere from 30 to 130 pounds of milk per day, depending on their stage of lactation. And the milking part takes only about three minutes per cow!!
From there a 600-gallon tank transfers our Happy Cows’ milk to The SpringHouse processing room, where the milk is pasteurized, homogenized, and put on the cooler shelves! With nothing added to the bottle but pure, fresh milk!! Our Chocolate Milk is kinda famous around here; it’s thick, rich flavor makes it a real treat for young and old alike.
Be sure to sample our Coffee Milk, Flavored Milk and Homemade Drinkable Yogurts made with real fruits!!
The History of Our Authentic Dairy Farm
– In 1975, the Sam and Bev Minor family, complete with five children twelve and under, started milking cows, processing and bottling the HORMONE FREE milk, and running the country store that is the original part of today’s SpringHouse Country Store, Creamery and Eatery.
Today, three generations of the Minor family continue to milk our herd of Hosteins and Jerseys on the farm.
